Providing a Strong Foundation For a Stonger Smile
Dental implants are small titanium screws that function much like the roots of natural teeth, providing a strong base to support ceramic tooth replacement options, and helping them look and feel natural.
Implants are surgically placed into the jaw bone, beneath the gumline, where they gradually integrate with your natural bone during the healing process. Once healed, the result is a strong, stable foundation for your tooth replacement.
When topped with a crown, bridge or implant supported denture, dental implants can help to prevent surrounding teeth from shifting, improve bite issues, relieve jaw joint pain, and restore the natural contours of your jawline.
Why Replace Missing Teeth?
Replacing missing teeth can help to mitigate ongoing oral health problems and give you a healthier smile.
Missing teeth can lead to a cascade of unexpected oral health problems. As teeth begin shifting to fill the gap left by a missing tooth, you may begin to experience loose teeth, further tooth loss, jaw discomfort, and even jaw bone deterioration that can lead to changes in your overall appearance.
The Dental Implant Process
Replacing missing teeth with dental implants requires one or more titanium dental implants, plus an appropriate tooth replacement option for the number of teeth being replaced.
Your dentist will begin by surgically placing the implant(s) into your jaw bone below the gum tissue. As the tissue heals, the implant integrates with the bone. As you are waiting for your jaw to heal, your dentist will have your custom tooth replacement fabricated, which may be a dental crown, bridge or denture.
Post-surgery healing typically takes between three and six months. Once the site is completely healed, you will return to our office to have your tooth replacement added to the implant, completing the process and leaving you with a newly rejuvenated smile.

How long does a dental implant last?
When properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime. Proper care includes diligent brushing and flossing at home, as well as attending regular dental hygiene cleanings and exams at your dental office.
The longevity of a dental implant may also depend on other factors, including medical conditions, nutrition, genetics, or the development of any dental diseases.

How do I care for my dental implants?
Care for a dental implant just like you care for your natural teeth.
Regular dental hygiene visits and maintaining a proper brushing and flossing routine at home can help prevent diseases from developing in the surrounding teeth and gums, which can negatively affect your dental implants.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?
Your comfort is our top priority during any procedure. During dental implant surgery, your dentist will administer anesthesia to make you comfortable so you won't feel pain during the procedure.
Following the procedure, very little discomfort is expected. Most patients can manage any pain with an over-the-counter pain medication for a few days after the procedure.
You will also need to eat a soft diet for the first couple of weeks after the implant procedure to avoid pain or irritation.

How long does the dental implant process take?
The entire dental implant process typically takes three to nine months to complete, depending on your treatment plan.
