Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located at the point where the lower jaw meets the skull. Sometimes, due to a bad bite, tooth grinding and clenching, posture or trauma, the temporomandibular joint is strained and overworked. This results in a number of symptoms including pain, popping of the joint, headaches, etc. A common treatment for temporomandibular joint pain is the use of a bite plane appliance which will reduce the strain on the joint.
