Home Whitening Whitening teeth can be achieved easily by using a take home whitening system. The procedure involves takig impressions of your teeth and making a model on which we will construct a custom made whitening tray. For two-three weeks you will place a whitening gel (carbamide peroxide) in the trays and wear them for four to size hours per day. Depending on your lifestyle, the results will vary, and you may need touch-ups to help maintain your bright smile.
Sealants Sealants are a thin, plastic coating applied to the grooves of permanent, posterior teeth. These sealants can help prevent bacteria from accumulating in the grooves and causing decay. Sealants should be applied as soon as the posterior teeth are erupted, usually between the ages of five and seven for the first molars and 11 and 14 for the second molars and premolars.
Periodontal Scaling and Rootplaning Periodontal scaling and rootplaning is a procedure that involves the removal of bacterial plaque and calculus (tartar) from the crowns and roots of teeth. At times this requires more than one dental visit, depending on the amount of deposit present. These procedures are necessary in order to avoid gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and periodontal disease (bone losss) which can ultimately result in tooth loss.
